Nourai is an AI-powered food and nutrition tracking app. Capture a meal by photo, barcode, label, voice, search, or manual entry. AI helps identify food and estimate portions, while nutrition values come from databases or values you explicitly enter.

There are several ways to log a meal:

• Photo: Take a photo of your food — AI recognizes it and estimates the weight for review.
• Barcode: Scan a packaged food barcode for instant lookup.
• Nutrition label: Photograph a nutrition label and macros are extracted into a draft.
• Voice: Say something like “I had two eggs and a bowl of oatmeal” and AI creates a draft entry.
• Manual search: Search from 3M+ foods in the USDA and Open Food Facts databases.

Nourai uses DeepSeek Vision AI as the primary provider for food recognition, nutrition-label OCR, and package-front extraction, with Google Vertex AI / Gemini retained as a controlled candidate. For uncommon or mixed dishes, you can always review and adjust the results before saving. Importantly, nutrition values come from databases or values you explicitly enter.

Yes. We follow a data minimization principle. Your food photos are used only for the current recognition. Nourai does not use them to train Nourai-owned AI models; current DeepSeek API evidence does not confirm the provider's training or improvement use. Passwords are hashed with argon2. All communication is encrypted via TLS 1.3. We do not use any advertising trackers or analytics SDKs (except optional Sentry for crash reporting). Read our full Privacy Policy.

Open Nourai → Settings → Account → Delete Account. This permanently removes all your personal data (profile, diet entries, conversations, photos) from our servers within 30 days. Backup copies are rotated within 90 days. Visit nourai.app/delete-account/ for detailed step-by-step instructions and data processing timelines.

The app interface is available in Simplified Chinese and English. The AI food recognition works with food from any cuisine. Additional languages (Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French) are planned for future updates.

Nourai uses a freemium model. Free users can keep logging meals with daily limits on AI recognition and chat. Pro unlocks higher daily limits, voice entry, and other subscription benefits where platform billing is available. Android purchases are not available until Google Play billing is complete.

Health Sync is an optional feature that connects Nourai with Apple HealthKit (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). With your explicit permission, Nourai can read steps, active energy, and weight to help estimate your goals, and write nutrition data (calories, protein, carbs, fat) back to your health platform. You can enable or disable it at any time in Settings.

Emotional Insights is an optional, off-by-default feature. When enabled, Nourai infers emotional states (joy, stress, fatigue, motivation, frustration, neutral) from your conversations with Nour to provide personalized weekly reflections. This data is never used for advertising, push notifications, or shared with third parties. You can delete your emotional history at any time in Settings.

Yes. Go to Settings → Account → Export Data to download a JSON copy of your profile, diet entries, conversation history, and achievements. Data export is available to all users and is never gated by subscription.
